FRISCO, TEXAS (June 2, 2013) – The Frisco RoughRiders fell to the Tulsa Drillers 5-3 Sunday at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The ‘Riders dropped the series 1-2, and split their home stand 3-3. It was the first time Frisco lost back-to-back games since the middle of May.

To lead off the third, Jose Gonzales walked, and then Rafael Ortega reached first base on a fielding error by Brett Nicholas. Later in the frame, Gonzales and Ortega advanced to on a wild pitch by Carlos PimentelJoey Wong was then hit by the pitch to load the bases. Kiel Roling doubled to left to bring Ortega and Gonzales home, and Kyle Parkerknocked a sacrifice fly to left field to bring Wong home, giving Tulsa (25-30) the early 3-0 lead.

Gonzales walked in the fourth then Wong knocked an RBI single to shallow center. In the fifth with two outs, Nina doubled to right field. Jayson Langfels then knocked an RBI single to extend the Drillers lead 5-0.

The ‘Riders (32-24) showed life in the sixth. Teodoro Martinez led off with a single to left and advanced to second on a wild pitch by Tim GustafsonGuilder Rodriguez then knocked an RBI single to left field, closing Tulsa’s lead 5-1.

In the eighth, Martinez singled left, stole second and then advanced to third on a flyout by Rodriguez. Later in the frame, Brett Nicholas singled to second base, adding another run for the ‘Riders, closing the Drillers lead 5-2.

In the ninth, Alex Buchholz hit an infield single then reached second on a wild pitch byMike MarbryOdubel Herrera grounded out to first, moving Buchholz to third. Ryan Strausborger knocked an RBI single down the right line, closing the Drillers lead. The RoughRiders’ comeback fell short as Tulsa won 5-3.

Gustafson (3-4) pitched six innings, allowing just one run on five hits and striking out two to earn the win. Pimentel allowed five runs on six hits in 4.2 innings to suffer the loss. Mike Marbry came on in the ninth, allowing just one run off two hits to be credited with the save.

The RoughRiders have a scheduled day off on Monday, and then take to the road for four games against the San Antonio Missions beginning Tuesday night at Nelson Wolff Municipal Stadium at 7:05. Tyler Tufts (1-1, 4.75 ERA) makes the start for the ‘Riders and will face Matt Wisler (2-2, 5.14 ERA) for the Missions.

Frisco returns to Dr Pepper Ballpark for a twelve-game home stand Wednesday, June 12 at 7:05 against the Corpus Christi Hooks.
